          NP Krka was proclaimed a National Park in 1985. as one of seven national parks in Croatia and on its own the National Park encompasses the area of 109km2. The Krka river springs 3,5km northeast of the city of Knin and it is 72km long.

     A picturesque canyon forms 7 loud waterfalls among which the most famous one is Skradinski buk with its seventeen travertine barriers creating an impressive fall of 45m. The Krka river is considered a natural and karst phenomenon. In Krka National Park there are more than 800 species of plants, 222 species of birds, 18 species of bats… briefly, it is a habitat characterized by an exceptionally rich flora and fauna.NP Krka & Krapanj tour starts from Strossmayer park (park is north above the Diocletian palace). After the national park our journey leads us to the island of Krapanj known for its 3oo year old tradition of sponge production. Its only 300 meters away from the mainland, after the boat ride we arrive on the island. Once it was the most populated island with a size of 0.356 km², with only 135 inhabitants residing today. Krapanj is the shallowest island in the Mediterranean with a height of 1.25 meters above sea. 300 years ago a Greek priest from the isle of Crete resided in Krapanj’s monastery. He conveyed the knowledge of sponge processing to the locals. Some fun facts about sponges in case you didn’t know, they are considered one of the most primitive animals, they have a dark brown color and they vary in sizes they can reach a size bigger then a human being. Centuries ago women would harvest and process sponges in Krapanj, today they don’t harvest anymore but they still hold the traditional female regatta boat race.  Buy your  original  sponge souvenir from the Adriatic sea! After leaving the island we continue driving along the Adriatic coast and you can enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery (beaches with a crystal clean sea, summer houses and villages) and a panoramic views of famous Primošten (iconic Croatian tourist landmark found in many magazines).
