National Park Plitvice lakes is the oldest (since 1949.) and the biggest Croatian National Park, the park is almost 30,000 acres large. It is located in the central part of Croatia and considered one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in the world. National Park plitvice is one of the seven UNESCO World heritage sites in Croatia (since 1979).

There are over 30 smaller and bigger caves in the Park. Sixteen lakes are connected by 92 travertine cascades, surrounded by dense abundant forest with diverse flora and fauna. Plitvice lakes are divided into upper and lower parts, connected by cascades and waterfalls, the climate is moderately continental. You can enjoy the picturesque landscape on the way back to Split in the early evening hours.
