
Split (Aspalathos, named after a plant) – city on a peninsula dating back to the roman times. In the 3rd century when the great Gaius Aurelius Valerius Diocletianus, born in Salona near Split, decided to retire, he built an unique dual-function home. The building is a combination of a roman palace and a roman military camp. An ancient palace that has residents living inside of it at the present day. Diocletian wished to spend the last years of his life enjoying in the mediterranean climate, homemade food and to indulge in the thermal springs of sulfuric spa which are still in use today.
